The PhysioPort hardware measures patient blood pressure oscillometrically using the inflation measurement method. Because oscillometric measurement eliminates the need for microphones in the blood pressure cuffs, the cuffs are less sensitive to minor displacement on the arm, which also leads to lower cuff costs. Using the inflation measurement method shortens the measurement duration to as little as 15 seconds.
